You’ll receive a kayak, paddles, and a life jacket with your rental, and you can choose to rent for a few hours or for several days. If you’re new to the sport of kayaking, Turtle Tides offers specialized instructions with your rentals, where you will spend 1.5 hours with a professional to show you the ropes.

Turtle Tides offers a tour of St. Simons Island that lasts up to 3 hours. You’ll be taken through calm water inlet areas that allow you to slow down and enjoy the nature and wildlife around you, and you’ll get to take a break at a private island for shell and sand dollar hunting. You can also choose to embark on their Jekyll Marsh Tour and Shark Tooth Hunt, where you’ll have at least two hours to experience the waters and hunt for a unique shark tooth!

Tidelands Nature Center

The 4-H Tidelands Nature Center provides everything you need for an incredible experience kayaking in Jekyll Island. The guided kayak tours take you through the salt marshes and give you a crab’s eye view of the tidal creeks. You’ll be led by an experienced naturalist who can clue you in to the wildlife and plants you’ll find along the way. Tours are perfect for beginners as well as experienced kayakers, and you’ll receive an orientation and basic paddling instruction along with all equipment.
