Independence Day Fireworks

You simply can’t have a Fourth of July celebration without an incredible fireworks display! Jekyll Island has an annual oceanfront display that is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face. You’ll have an unbelievable view from virtually anywhere on the island, so pick your favorite spot on the shore or step out onto your balcony to get in on the fun. However, if you want to make sure you have the best seat in the house, many people recommend watching the fireworks from the beach between the Holiday Inn Resort and south to the Days Inn on the island’s oceanfront side. If you do choose to drive somewhere to watch the fireworks, be aware that the parking fee may be increased. Fireworks start after sunset, typically around 9 p.m.

Independence Day Parade

One of the staples of Jekyll Island’s Independence Day celebrations is the parade. Typically held on the morning of July 4th, the Independence Day Parade allows visitors to celebrate America’s birthday with some fun and interesting floats making their way through the historic district. Feel free to bring a lawn chair and catch as much candy as your arms will hold, or if you really want to get in on the action, decorate your bike, golf cart, or stroller and join in the parade! There is no admission, making this a budget-friendly way to celebrate Independence Day.

Typically held at the Village Green during 4th of July weekend, Red, White, and Bounce is an incredible family-friendly event that is sure to be the highlight of your kid’s vacation. There’s tons of live music throughout the day, and plenty of vendors are set up for sidewalk shopping. Of course, there are also numerous children’s activities including the awesome bounce houses! Beach Village Music Series

There’s simply nothing more relaxing and fun than strolling through a beach community while listening to some incredible local music. The Beach Village Music Series goes on throughout every summer and features local talent that will get your feet tapping every time. Set out a blanket and enjoy the music or stroll through the Village Green for a leisurely walk. Either way, it’s the perfect way to spend time with your loved ones on your vacation.

Movie on the Green

Once a month, the Village Green holds an outdoor family movie showing. This is a great way to see a new film with your family, especially if your little ones are too small to keep quiet in a traditional movie theater. Admission is free, but if you get hungry, there are various snack and dinner options available at several of the shops nearby. If you get there early, you can enjoy the pre-movie festivities! Fourth of July weekend is always a fun time to celebrate America’s history and spend quality time with the ones you love.
