Sea Palm Cottage
27 Ogden Street

Fantastic 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with great decor and lots of living space. Short stroll to the beach and pool. Tennis and golf nearby.

Accommodates 6.

Please note there is limited beach access on the northeast half of the island due to contracted work by the Jekyll Island Authority on the rock revetment that protects many of the houses along the beach as well as our shoreline. Also, because of the work and destruction from hurricanes Michael and Irma, all private beach walk-overs have been removed. As a result, beach access may be limited or nonexistent on the north end of Jekyll.

Beach access is available at Driftwood Beach, Great Dunes Park, the new Ocean View Park near the Holiday Inn, the new Corsair Park next to the Jekyll Club Ocean Suites Hotel, as well as the various parks on the south end of the island. The Great Dunes and Ocean View Parks are handicap accessible. Those who like to stay the day at the beach may also try the beach access at the soccer complex on the south end.

As part of the work on the rock wall, ALL of the beach streets on the northeast half of the island will have beach crossovers when the work is completed. Official updates regarding shoreline access are available from the Jekyll Island Authority at www.jekyllisland.com.

Perfect for a family

By: Trip Date: 06/22/2019

Sea Palm Cottage is in a great location and near the Great Dunes Park and not too far from Driftwood Beach. It is on a quiet street right off the main road. The house is very spacious.

The bedrooms are nice sized with comfortable beds. The master bathroom only has a shower and toilet if that matters. It didn’t to us. The guest bathroom is larger with a shower/tub combo.

The enclosed sun room is a big area with lots of windows for natural light. The current picture on the site do not show off this beautiful room well enough. There are two seating areas in there as well and it was a perfect area for our toddler to play with his toys. I read at night in there as well. We have 3 children, ages: 2, 9, 15 so space is key for us.

There are 3 tv’s in the house so each kid could have one at night to keep the bickering down. One in the master, one in the living room and one in the sunroom. All have cable but only the only in the living room has Netflix capabilities.

The kitchen is well stocked with basic supplies:pots, pans, strainer, coffee pot, blender, microwave, toaster, and lots of dishes. The fridge is older so you will need to give it time to cool. I do not advise bringing lots of items with you that immediately need to be cooled. The fridge also does not have an ice maker but it does have trays that can be filled and the holder so that you can put the ice in there once frozen.

The house does have a garage big enough to fit a Ford F-150 and still have plenty of room. There is an area to store your fishing supplies and we had room for our kayak too! There is a nice size back yard as well as an outdoor shower area.

Everything was clean when we got there and we were given a gift bag with starter supplies that included one trash bag(a new one was also already in trash can when we got there), a small dish liquid, a roll of paper towels and two rolls of toilet paper.

My Warnings about the house which wouldn’t deter me from renting this house again are:

1. The shades in the sun room really should be replaced. Currently they are cheap roller pull down ones which aren’t meant to last so watch your kids in case you have mischievous ones like mine. I warned mine ahead of time not to mess with them but heads up to other parents all the same.

2. There is no fan in the master bathroom so bring air freshener and crack the window in the bathroom.
3. There is no dresser in the master bedroom(not really room for one) so we just used the shelving in the closet and hung up most of our clothes.
4. There is a door leading to outside in the master bedroom which is locked but was an odd place to have a door. Older home so I’m sure it had a purpose at one point.
5. Couch is a sleeper sofa so be warned when you sit down in case you catch the bar. Our son slept on the sleeper sofa one night because he wanted to watch tv late and he said it was comfortable.

Like I said, MINOR as far “issues” and would not change my mind about renting this cute house again.
